Kamchatka Quake Triggers Volcanic Eruption. Klyuchevskaya Sopka, the tallest active volcano in Eurasia, has erupted just hours after the massive magnitude 8.8 earthquake off Russia's eastern coast. Lava flows and ash plumes have been confirmed. More than 100 aftershocks have rattled the region since the main quake. The ground remains unstable and the situation is still escalating.
